Once again Elvin Bishop has left his daily work on his farm to pleasantly surprise us with his last album, the seventh one for Alligator records Elvin Bishop has formed an excellent trio which works to explore new and surprising paths to let his blues run free, in order to communicate joy and fun to all those who love his music, so this is the reason why both the trio and the album have the name of Elvin Bishop’s Big Fun Trio Besides Elvin on guitar and vocals, the other two musicians who complete the trio are Bob Welsh on piano and guitar and Willy Jordan on cajón, percussion and vocals- Three amazing harmonica players and good Elvin’s friends like Kim Wilson, Rick Estrin and Charlie Musselwhite have collaborated in the album, each one in one song, which gives a plus of quality to the unique, cool, fantastic and totally dynamic recording Elvin Bishop has always been a direct heir of Paul Butterfield’s blues tradition and, over the years, he has shown it in most of his albums where, as time goes by, he reinvents himself like a chameleon, playing a strong, muscular, solid blues always with an enormous vitality Twelve songs performed with spontaneity, good taste and joy, where you will immediately realize the joyful atmosphere, friendship and good feeling that always appear among them when they play together
