Ellis Hooks was born in Alabama to a Cherokee mother and an Afroamerican father who was a devoted Baptist raised man He was the thirteen of sixteen children and, according to the neighbourhood gossip talks, he did not have his first pair of shoes until he was eight years old Thanks to the radio he discovered there was a secular music apart from the religious one, so he decided to leave his home searching for new adventures and opportunities that filled his routine life He travelled all over USA working in the most diverse odd jobs, as well as singing on streets for some tips One day he was singing around Central Park, Diana Ross walked there and she immediately was taken by the amazing Ellis’ voice She paid him a recording session that never came to see the light because Hooks was not satisfied with it After saving some money, he travelled around Europe where he met producer Jon Tiven who produced his first album Since then on his name started to be known and reach more popularity among fans This album presents thirteen emotive, intense and warm tracks, all them impregnated with the smell of the best and most genuine soul, spiced with a gospel touch and a bluesy air, where his voice overflows with passion and sometimes, it recalls the one of those big great singers like Little Milton, Sam Cooke, James Carr or even Otis Redding
