An amazing comeback of legendary bluesman Eddie C Campbell, that perhaps you may have almost forgotten Eddie C Campbell is a Chicago West Side able singer and guitar player, belonging to the same generation of musicians like Jimmy Dawkins, Eddie Clearwater, Buddy Guy, Magic Sam or Otis Rush With his return to the recording studios, Campbell shows he is in an excellent form, lively, with an outstanding commitment He performs a good combination of funk, blues, hypnotical, high intensity, powerful grooves but at the same time restrained and cool, full of magic and bright nuances Gifted with an energetic personality he displays along the fourteen songs included at Tear This World Up, Eddie gives a totally exciting strength, able to catch the most impassive people This is his first album recorded for Delmark Records where Eddie is backed by a bunch of high class musicians, such as Marty Binder on drums or the effective Sam Burckhardt on tenor sax in four cuts As says the informative sheet I received from Kevin Johnson of Delmark Records it is an album where Magic Sam meets James Brown and James meets Johnny Guitar Watson… but all them, at the Wst Side!!
