Eddie Burns was born in Balzoni, Mississippi, in 1928 Like his friend Eddie Kirkland, we have just talked about in the previous review, he gained a reputation on Detroit blues circles, where he moved during the second world war to work in car industry As Kirkland, he also worked with John Lee Hooker in different night-clubs, as singer and harmonica player while he worked as car mechanic repairman At the end of the fifties he began to play guitar and since then on Eddie Burns’ life completely changed On this new cd Burns gets into the old southern tradition producing an electric country sound that reflects the maturity on a gifted vitalist guitar player with an original cool bright sound You will also find Bobby Welch on drums, Joe Hunter on piano, Frank Bryant on bass and Eddie’s brother Jimmy Burns on guitar, all them mastery leaded by Eddie Burns himself on guitar, harmonica and vocals
