Born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1996, only aged six Brooks Mason was already playing with his first guitar. Often he felt totally disappointed when he was not allowed to go on clubs to see his local blues heroes like Sean Costello. At fifteen he decided to put aside his studies and his first small jobs and concentrate himself to play the blues he took inspiration listening to Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Freddie King or Rory Gallagher. In 2019 he changed his official name to become Eddie 9V, starting a fruitful career that has not stopped to grown up to now. His undeniable vocal and guitar qualities become evident on this album recorded for German label Ruf Records, where Eddie brings us all his energy, passion, dedication and a runaway feeling. The album gathers nine own blues plus three powerful covers performed with a supernatural amd extreme strength that drives us back to the most genuine recordings of those white bluesmen who were captivated by blues based on real electric 50’s, 60’s and 70’s Chicago blues. Eddie’s guitar and voice are backed by bass players Lane Kelly (Eddie’s brother), Brandon Boone (Tedeschi Trucks Band) and Marvin Mahanay, harmonica player Jackson Alley, guitar player Cody Matlock, Chad Mason on organ and Fender Rhodes, Aaron Hambrick on drums, Sam Nelson on alto and tenor sax and the backing vocals of Mandy Strachota. A really good cd, full of vibrant and stellar moments, recorded on a single session as if all the musicians were enjoying a joyful party playing high voltage good blues.
