Singer EB Davis was born in Elaine, Arkansas and raised in Memphis He had not turned 30 when he went to New York where he spent some years hardening himself in a good number of clubs, before travelling to Germany, where he settled and lives today Like so many other southern Afro-American people, Eb Davis grew up singing gospel and it wasn’t until he came to Memphis and started to spend weekends nights in Beale Street, where he discovered great icons like BB King, Junior Parker, Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland or Albert King, and also began to play at jams in different clubs, when he started to sing blues and soul From his New York years, EB Davis remembers he regularly played with his own band The Soulgroovers at 521 Club in Brooklyn as the club resident band, with a repertoire that mainly was devoted to soul, together with some blues songs Today Davis has released about twenty recordings, so this new album is the result of a long and careful work, where he has surrounded himself with a group of more than excellent musicians, as well as some old friends like Keith Dunn, Aron Burton or Earl Bostic The album gathers twelve magnificent, tastefully performed songs ranging from soul to blues, where Davis’ exclusive voice stands out at a very high level In short words, this is a fully recommended recording that should not miss in each good fan record collection
