What can be said blues lovers do not already know about Duke Robillard, this amazing guitar player with a very elegant restrained style, full of rich chromatic technical resources and subtle nuances that few Texas blues musicians have Guitar player, song writer, singer, producer, studio musician… Robillard has played all blues different styles and has collaborated with such great masters like The Fabulous Thunderbirds, John Hammond, Roomful of Blues, Maria Muldaur, Dr John, Ruth Brown, Jimmy Whiterspoon and many others I cannot mention here for space reasons The first cd gathers twelve songs that follow T-Bone Walker path, whom he tastefully pays homage with a very bright performing The second cd is a totally acoustic one, where Duke gives a solo playing, only backed by some friends like Jerry Portnoy who plays harp in one tune, Doug James who leaves saxos for harp in one song too and Billy Novick who plays clarinet in two songs A wide range of well chosen blues, where we will find a little bit of different blues styles from New Orleans to Texas, swing or Chicago blues… A new priceless jewel of this great master called Duke Robillard
