Dr Helander is a true dedicated bluesman who feels this music from the deepest part of his heart and soul After being caught by sixties British blues he listened on the radio, he devoted himself to study the different blues sounds and styles which, shortly after, led him to start a professional career Unlike his previous records that included original material, for this recording the Doctor has selected a handful of classic blues which have deeply impress him The repertoire includes different material coming from Muddy Waters, Son House, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Little Walter, Arthur ‘Big Boy’ Crudup, Junior Wells, Charley Patton, Mike Bloomfield together with a couple of own songs The album has been recorded on a totally acoustic way, which is also new on him, as in previous releases Dr Helander used to combine electric and acoustic guitar In this Country Boy you will find dobro, slide, harmonica, double bass, acoustic guitar, mandolin and percussion It is worth mention Charlie Musselwhite, who appears as guest musician in three of the twelve songs included in the album
