It is not common that a baritone sax musician presents a recording under his own name as a leader of a band But fortunately here comes Doug James, who covers the vacant post among the reduced field of horn blowers blues, jump or rhythm and blues stars I am glad to know Doug has had the opportunity to do so, because his musical quality is out of doubt With a personal brilliant sound, James is surrounded by some of his best friends and fellows who played with him at the legendary Roomful of Blues like Sugar Ray or Duke Robillard who contribute on this cd where Doug cleverly mixes Swing, jazz, jump and r&b For those of you, who do not know much about this musician, only say that he has also recorded for many other artists such as Pat Benatar, Big Joe Turner, Colin James and he has also been regular member of different bands such as Fabulous Thunderbirds, JB Hutto among many others
