Dorothy Moore is one of the great northern soul singers who got success at the end of the 70’s, when funk and dance music were all the rage among white and black young people At the time when southern soul began to lose popularity and became a quite restricted music only for specialized audiences, Dorothy Moore began his career and she did so at the University of Jackson, Mississippi, where she formed a girls group called The Poppies The band recorded for Date label, a Columbia Records subsidiary, without success and totally unnoticed for most of the general audience In 1976 she decided to start a solo career, recording a series of remarkable outstanding ballads that launched her to enter into the charts With the song Misty Blue recorded for Malaco Records, she reached # 2 on rhythm and blues charts and # 3 in pop list The rest is well known by good fans In this last work Dorothy Moore shows she is in a very good form, singing with an inspired authority and strength Also, she will immediately captivate listeners with a bright repertoire that moves between joyful blues but, over all, proves it becomes very difficult to compete with her because she is gifted with a real amazing vocal skills
