France has always produced really good blues musicians. This is the case of singer and drummer Denis Agenet, a musician who has always loved blues music, something which has led him to travel different times to United States and especially to New Orleans and Florida.

For about fifteen years he has led the group Bad Mules. With them he has participated at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, also touring the country, as well as recording or backing musicians like Josh Miller, Karl W. Davis, Jim Mac Kaba, Blaise Barton or Dave Specter. Denis and his band have been requested many times to support American musicians during their tours in France, like Mac Arnold, Omar Coleman, Tom Holland, Barrelhouse Chuck, Jonn Del Toro Richardson, Johnny Nicholas, Dave Gross, Wanda Johnson, Jimmy Burns, C.W. Ayon, Chris Ruest or Nathan James.

Denis has an extensive repertoire of New Orleans classics from the 40’s to the 60’s, he combines with his own compositions. However, for this album he has chosen ten own songs that range from New Orleans rhythms to ballads or country blues with Americana influences.

Besides his usual band, Nolapsters, which includes excellent French scene musicians, Denis has surrounded himself with a series of renowned guests such as Sax Gordon Beadle, Cédric Le Gof, Austin Brashier, Nathan James, Nico Wayne Toussaint or Arnaud Fradin, together with a horn section. All of them contribute give bright and quality to a more than interesting recording.
