Although David Vest is a Canadian singer and piano player, his music invites us to travel to the southern USA lands, reproducing the classic rock, boogie-woogie and blues, as he is deeply influenced by these styles, pulling out the most genuine sound, adding a touch of his own creativity, that immediately connects with the audience thanks to his catching music but also with his entertainer skills.

He now presents two albums recorded live, one from the Calgary International Blues Festival and the other from the legendary Hermann’s Jazz Club in Victoria. Although both albums come from different stages, they form a unit that allows us to discover and appreciate an artist who knows how to capture all the essence of piano bar blues and boogie-woogie. He knows to easily display his music with good style and natural self-confidence, as you will immediately realize listening to both albums.

Twenty-three songs round up the total of the two cds where, thanks to an excellent mixing, listeners could easily imagine they are sharing stage with David Vest on vocals and piano, Peter Dammann on guitar, Damian Graham on drums and Ryan Tandy on bass, enjoying all together a magnificent repertoire that combines own songs with rock ‘n’ roll, blues, jazz, gospel and boogie-woogie versions. In both recordings David Vest and his band share two priceless shows full of magic, good performing, communication and honesty.

In short words, two excellent recordings especially devoted to the most orthodox American roots music lovers.
