David Bennett Cohen is a prestigious high quality piano and organ player and singer. During the psychedelic years and the Californian hippie movement he was member of the band Country Joe And The Fish. Born in Brooklyn, New York, only aged seven he learned to play piano and, later on, guitar. At fourteen he discovered boogie-woogie, a style that deeply captivated him and let him discover the blues, styles that has never abandoned since that time. Over the years David has played with the most outstanding rock and blues musicians, like Janis Joplin, Johnny Winter, Luther Tucker, Mick Taylor, Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson, Michael Bloomfield, Bob Weir or Jimi Hendrix among many others. He has also written a great piano learning method entitled “David Bennett Cohen Teaches Blues Piano”. This album is a good example of how to play, sing and perform all times blues with commitment and respect but, at the same time, with a creative freedom, always framed in the most orthodox 40’s, 50’s and 60’s blues, spiced with the magic of the music of the 21st Century. Besides Davis Bennett Cohen on piano and vocals, the other participating musicians are Arthur Neilson and David “Doc” French on guitars, Tim Tindall on bass, Roy Blumenfeld on drums, Arno Hecht on sax, Heather Hardy on violin and Fred Walcott on percussion.
