Following the footsteps of his mentor J.B. Hutto or Hound Dog Taylor, just like Lil’ Ed is now doing, and being also founder of Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials before starting his solo career, Dave Weld gives a twist to the most effective houserockin’ Chicago blues guitar, besides revealing himself as a reliable storyteller, opening new horizons to the intense, raw and vigorous blues that has become his trademark.

Sharing the vocal parts of the album with Monica Myhre and backed by his band The Imperial Flames, Dave Weld presents this last recording, produced by Tom Hambridge for the historic record label Delmark Records, which gathers one of the best blues catalogues you can find now.

Ten Dave Weld’s and Monica Myhre’s own compositions with the curiosity of including the cut “Donde Vas” sung in Spanish and English, plus two versions “Now She’s Gone” coming from J.B. Hutto and the medley “Loving You / Jelly Roll Blues” by J.B. Hutto and Bukka White, give shape to this exciting album where you will also find some deluxe guests like Billy Branch, Tom Hambridge, Tony Carpenter and a horn section with Sax Gordon, Rogers Randle Jr., Kenny Anderson and Bill McFarland.

An amazing, powerful, intense and surprisingly engaging recording that will catch listeners from the beginning to the end. Dave Weld has managed to release an impressive album, not without nuances and a variety of colors, developing a very personal innovative style as far as blues and slide are concerned. From these lines we give our welcome to this magnificent recording which allows us to appreciate and enjoy Dave Weld’s music.
