The career of guitar player, singer and songwriter Dave Thomas began in 1969 with the British rock-blues explosion. Since then on he has always remained active leading his own band The Dave Thomas Blues Band or playing solo and even with some big bands. His passion for blues has led him to participate in many projects and now he manages the Fine City Blues Festival in Norwich also running the Fine City Blues Club. The pandemic cut off many of the activities he was doing so far, so Thomas devoted himself to record some of the projects he had postponed for quite a long time, like this album I have on hands. The recording includes ten songs that move among various blues styles from B.B. King’s “It’s My Own Fault”, where he is backed by Travis Haddix’s horn section, to the funky-blues of the song “I Like My Chicken Fried”, a James Cotton tribute in “One More Mile To Go” and even the soul-blues of Dave Thomas’ own song “Poor Boy”. Different musicians collaborated in those sessions, which contribute to give a variety of tastes and textures to the genre he performs with reliability that, in this case, is good blues.
