Although many times piano is overshadowed by electric guitar, for about thirty years piano player and singer Dave Keyes has devoted himself to popularize this instrument, carrying the torch of some of his great youth heroes like Fats Domino, Dr. John, Johnny Johnson, James Booker or Professor Longhair. During his fruitful career he has collaborated in countless television shows in Broadway and has been director and conductor in many Broadway orchestras as well, working regularly with artists like Odetta, Bo Diddley, Sleepy LaBeef, Marie Knight, Popa Chubby or Alexis P. Suter among others.

This is the sixth solo album and gathers nine original songs, plus a cover of Willie Nelson’s “Funny How Time Slips A Way”, which all become a magnificent example of the different musical influences he has got during his years of career.

For the recording Keyes has counted with some of the members of his usual combo like John Putnam on guitar, Jeff Anderson on bass, drummers Frank Pagano and Bernard “Pretty” Purdie, a horn section with Chris Eminizer on tenor sax and Tim Ouimette on trumpet and arrangements, plus some deluxe guests such as Early Times and Popa Chubby on guitar, Doug MacLeod on acoustic guitar and David J. Keyes on bass. Of course, Dave Keyes’ piano and vocals shine at an amazing high level, perfectly surrounded by this group of impressive musicians who always give the best of themselves, developing a brilliant sound displayed with good taste and elegance.
