A really good ‘country blues roots’ record from two vitalist original musicians who feel very concerned with what they give to the audience Brothers, Blood & Bone is in some aspects a conceptual piece of work where both artists show their original unique style, an elegant clever and respectful mixture of blues with different elements of what could be defined as ‘West African griot’ A worthy record that shows a different way of implication with ethnic roots music belonging to two continents, in the new XXIst Century, open to cool risky ideas and a remarkable quality, thanks to the good work of these two experts of the historical musical heritage who, at the same time, aim to change old concepts with new experimental music sounds, by using instruments like khalam, ngono or cane flute, which does not mean they do not give preeminence to harmonica and guitar too
