For this new album D. Scott Riggs brings us a different style than the one we are used to find in his recordings. It is a totally acoustic one only performed with guitar and voice. Riggs tells us he didn’t have the idea to do it on mind, because he was working on another project with much more instrumentation and surrounded by a group of musicians. The point is that he found himself on a tour and, during the resting days in different hotels, he listened to old songs coming from Blind Willie Johnson or Reverend Edward W. Clayborn, which make him to start to play and compose songs in those lonely hotel rooms, inspired by 20’s and 30’s rural blues. He realized he had eight new songs, adding three more ones he wrote after the tour, which are the ones that give shape to the album.

The result is a recording of the most genuine rural blues where Riggs shows he is an excellent performer of that particular style, communicating all the beauty, poetry and feeling he is able to develop simply with a guitar and his well-pitched voice.

Songs where Riggs gives free rein to the inner blues demons, hopelessness and sadness, but at the same time he shows the real hope for a better world. All that makes this recording become a more than interesting one, perfect for those moments of peace and serenity we are all looking for.
