Young singer and guitar player D.K. Harrell has shaken up USA blues scene. His first gig was in 2019 and, two years later, he already was in a show with Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks, Bobby Rush, Gary Clark Jr. or Mr. Sipp among other artists, besides reaching in 2022 the third place at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis.

Born in a small town in northern Louisiana, D.K. began playing harmonica at the age of eight, but he soon switched to guitar, also singing at the local church choir. He learned to play blues by watching thousands of videos of his favorite bluesmen, developing an encyclopedic blues knowledge.

Despite his youth, just turned twenty-five, Harrell has already got all the experience, maturity, wisdom and good taste many musicians should have taken many years to learn.

This is his debut recording that gathers eleven songs where Harrell feels totally confident, controlling the situation and creating an infectious groove with solos developed with an enviable technique and a huge personality. Besides, he has counted with an impressive cast of musicians like Kid Andersen on rhythm guitar, Jim Pug (B.B. King, Etta James, Robert Cray) on piano and keyboards, Jerry Jemmott (Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Freddie King, B.B. King) on bass, Tony Coleman (B.B. King) on drums and a powerful horn section with two trumpets, trombone, two tenor saxos, a baritone sax and strings. The backing vocals come from Tia Carroll, Lisa Andersen, Quique Gómez and Alabama Mike.

This young bluesman is a real surprise, something he makes evident in this recording, as well as his enormous potential that will lead him to do great things in the blues world. Give time to time and everyone will see.
