To have on hands an album coming from Alligator Records becomes, a priori, guarantee of quality And, in this case, the cd confirms it, as the new Curtis Salgado’s work fills completely our expectations This is probably his most personal recording so far, as it is the first time Curtis has participated in the songs composition, either alone or together with other song-writers, but he has also collaborated in the production, backing vocals direction and horn arrangements The final result is really fruitful and is reflected in a good variety of styles that move from funk, blues, soul ballads and even some songs inspired in Van Morrison’s music As becomes usual in this singer and harmonica player albums, the list of participants is extensive, as more than thirty musicians between regular and guest ones have contributed to give an elegant distinctive touch to the twelve album songs Listening to Curtis Salgado’s work, it is quite easy to realize why he is one of the most requested musicians to participate in the most varied festivals all over the world
