Born in 1954 in Eugene, Oregon, singer and harmonica player Curtis Salgado started to be interested in music thanks to his parents’ record collection His elder brother and sister made him discover soul and blues and artists like Wilson Pickett or Muddy Waters When he was thirteen years old he went to a Count Basie’s show and there he decided he would devote his life to play that music Harmonica player and singer of the early Nighthawks, co-leader in Robert Cray’s band, winner of nine Blues Music Awards and John Belushi’s very close friend who discovered and learned all blues secrets from him, Curtis Salgado has developed an impressive career full of good recordings and a notable success, so today he is one of the most outstanding artists of Alligator Records rooster, besides overcoming three cancers and undergoing a quadruple bypass All these health issues have not diminished his vocal qualities al all, that remain intact or have even improved, as one can immediately notice listening to this new album with thirteen songs, twelve own compositions, plus a cover of Slow Down that became popular by The Beatles The album was recorded in three different studios with three different groups of exceptional musicians A delicious appealing album that becomes essential for all lovers of good blues and first quality soul
