Corey Harris has come back to the recording studios to produce an album for Mark Carpentieri’s label (M.C. Records), filled with wonderful songs and lyrical harmonies that will catch people from the first song notes. This is his twentieth album where he shows the musical qualities he is able to give to his acoustic songs, always full of beauty and a delightful prose too.

As many fans should know, Corey Harris is a very eclectic blues musician who has always been able to communicate the undeniable versatility of his music but, especially when he plays acoustic or when he fuses blues and African music.

The recording includes fifteen own compositions where Harris’ voice is only supported by his guitar, except in “Afton Mountain Blues” where Phil Wiggins is on harmonica and “When Did You Leave Heaven” that includes Lino Muoio on mandolin.

The album has been recorded in Italy under the clever direction of Simone Scifoni, who has been able to capture and show all the intimate self-reflection Corey gives to each one of his own songs.

Personally, I think it is one of the best Corey Harris’ albums he has recorded up to date.
