Every Alligator Records new release becomes a synonymous of quality so, before I listen to this recording I know beforehand the interest this new album will have to me, not only for Alligator reliability but also for Coco Montoya’s name, whose recordings never disappoint all his followers Montoya can sound more or less inspired, but he is a musician who is always able to bring something new to call the attention of his many fans and admirers Coco Montoya grew as a guitar player and singer with two of the most legendary blues masters, Albert Collins, one of the greatest contemporary Texas blues names, and British blues giant ‘Father’ John Mayall Collins was his mentor and great friend and he first played in his band as a drummer, but soon Albert realized his great potential as guitar player, so he soon became the second guitar player Coco was in the band for five years and afterwards he was member for a decade of John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers where he became worldwide well known as a brilliant guitarist With this new album Coco is even growing on, providing listeners that particular emotion he is able to communicate with only a single note of his guitar and a single verse sung with this personal voice he always puts in service of the lyrics intensity
