Cliff Stevens is a blues rock guitar player and singer who currently lives and develops his career in Montreal, although he comes from a British family. His influences can be found in guitarists like Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter or Rory Gallagher but, over the years, he has shaped his own sound and a personal way to develop the blues.

His career has been marked by various ups and downs, playing in different bands and performing from the smallest clubs to the largest stadiums in front of thousands of people. Drugs and alcohol made him to take the difficult decision to step away from music and start working as a taxi driver. Finally, in 1998, once he had overcome his addictions, totally sober and with a new mentality, Cliff decided to come back on stage and start a new solo adventure.

Since there on, his career has not stopped growing, recording several albums and participating in various festivals in Canada and Europe, such as Blues Baltica in the town of Eutin in Germany, which precisely was where this live album has been recorded during its 2023 edition. Today Cliff is a fully recognized musician who also holds a Master’s Degree in Music and Education from Concordia University in Montreal.

As we have said, this album gathers the show he performed at Baltic Blues Festival in 2023 and, each of the eleven songs included, show us Cliff Stevens is now in top form and has become a guitar player to be considered, because he treasures the strength and versatility necessaries to be appreciated by listeners, together with a well-modulated voice gifted with really interesting nuances.

In that particular show Cliff Stevens’ guitar and vocals were backed by Ray Farquhar on bass and vocals and David Devine on drums.

A good choice of Baltic Blues led by Helge Nickel, to release an album by this more than interesting artist.
