Although this is his first recording, singer, harmonica player and songwriter Christopher Wyze has spent more than two decades soaking up the blues as backing musician as well as doing extensive journeys and visits to the original blues places like the Mississippi Delta.

Wyze composed and co-wrote in Clarksdale, Mississippi the thirteen songs that give shape to the album, where he mixes roadhouse blues as in the song “Three Hours From Memphis” where he explains his blues journey, with the frustration and hopelessness of “Stuck In The Mud”, the narrative of the most genuine an lonely story tellers in “Soul On The Road”, the real roots blues in “Back To Clarksdale”, again the sadness of confinement in “Life Behind Bars”, the honky-tonk rhythms of “Looking For My Baby”, the activist enthusiasm of “Wake Up” or the hypnotic North Mississippi Hill Country blues of “Good Friend Gone”.

Christopher Wyze knows how to combine styles like folk, blues and Americana music with more intimate songs where he shows his skills as a storyteller, also singing with a voice totally suitable to the styles he practices.

Ten of the album songs were recorded in such an historical place like Muscle Shoals in Alabama. The remaining three were done on a recording session in Clarksdale. Mississippi. The first session featured Eric Deaton on guitars, slide and vocals, Gerry Murphy on bass and vocals, Justin Holder on drums, Brad Kuhn on piano, organ and wurlitzer and the special collaboration of Ralph Carter on backing vocals, Brad Guin on sax in “Lookin’ For My Baby” and Dylan Johnson on washboard in “Good Friend Gone”. For the second one Wyze was surrounded by Gary Hudson on guitar and slide, Gerry Murphy on bass, Douglas Banks on drums, Eli Hannon on Hammond and percussion and Dana King on backing vocals.
