Nominated for 2019 Grammy Awards, and now aged twenty-two, singer, songwriter and guitar player Christone “Kingfish” Ingram has already become an outstanding representative of the new generation of Afroamerican blues artists. Highly recognized by old and new blues fans, Kingfish releases now his second album for Alligator label. During the last two years he has reached a remarkable popularity not only in USA but also at an international level.

With the title of “662” (the telephone code of his local area) the album describes his personal story on a journey that goes from his musical beginning in his Clarksdale hometown, in the heart of the Delta and very close to the legendary ‘crossroads’ where Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil, to his actual busy life with a calendar full of gig dates. His songs faithfully reflect the legacy of artists such as Robert Johnson, Lightnin’ Hopkins, B.B. King or Muddy Waters, but it also brings us closer to Jimi Hendrix or Prince, which makes as a result a personal, contemporary, very effective an actual own sound that can be appreciated in pearls like “662”, “Another Life Goes By”, “Long Distance Woman”, “She Calls Me Kingfish” or “Too Young To Remember”.

The thirteen album songs plus a bonus track are performed in a precise, intense and passionate way, showing the very special singularity of this young but impressive artist, which makes blues lovers can feel confident knowing the new blues is in good hands, at least as far as Christone “Kingfish” Ingram is concerned.
