The real fifties Chicago blues tradition on its most vintage, classic and orthodox side, has in the duo formed by singer and guitar player Chris James and bass player Patrick Rynn two of its most unique and genuine musicians who truly represent the special Chicago sound For five years both musicians were members of drummer Sammy Lay’s band, besides backing and recording under the direction of mostly Chicago blues icons like Junior Wells, Detroit Junior, Dave Myers and many more In this excellent album, these two musicians have reached a completely dazzling sound, which has made them now be at the peak of their musical career To get it they have also been surrounded by three excellent musicians who perfectly know where they stand, as June Core (Robert Lockwood, Charlie Musselwhite) on drums and harmonica players Rob Stone and Aki Kumar Ten amazing songs that combine six own ones and four well selected versions, in particular the powerful Roll, Tumble And Slip coming from great Sunnyland Slim that, like the rest of the album, is performed with great power, an incredible cleverness and much reliability
