Finalist at the International Blues Challenge, for more than twenty years guitar player, singer and songwriter Chris Gill has spread his genuine rural blues along most southern USA stages. He began playing guitar when he was still in school and, when he was at the University, he discovered musicians like Taj Mahal, BB King, Eric Clapton or The Allman Brothers Band. However, it wasn’t until he saw Bonnie Raitt and Merle Haggard playing live in Jackson that he decided he wanted to devote his life to play blues. Since then on he has not stopped to perform, either with his band The Sole Shakers, with his duo D’Mar & Gill or in solo format that is the case of this album. All the beauty of Mississippi country blues performed with real taste and beautiful simple harmonies come together along the eleven album songs, where Chris Gill’s melodious voice is only backed by his old guitars, all done with only two microphones and a small amp to, in this way, show the special beauty of country blues when it is performed from the deepest part of the heart with no superficial or additional complements.
