Chris Beard belongs to a generation of singers and guitar players who develop the most actual blues. Born in 1957, Beard is son of guitarist Joe Beard, who used to play on Beale Street back in the fifties and whose friends included musicians like Buddy Guy and Matt “Guitar” Murphy. Chris grew up surrounded by the blues and he still remembers Matt’s words, “the guitar has to be an extension of you”.

With this background, Beard has now become an excellent performer. He has released six albums and now he presents his seventh one recorded for Blue Heart Records, where Chris shows all his skills both in vocals and guitar, with splendid solos that prove his mastery, elegance and good taste.

Ten songs give shape to the album, eight own compositions previously released in some of his albums but remastered and remixed, which combine in equal parts the most traditional blues with modern rhythm and blues. All of them become a tribute to those great musicians who preceded him, always displayed with pleasant contemporary arrangements that make them really attractive for the new generations of blues lovers.

Along the album listeners will also find delicious touches of gospel, groove, New Orleans, funk, Louisiana Blues, dirty rockin’ blues and even some intense ballads that will allow you to appreciate all Chris Beard’s intensity and strength, perfectly backed by a group of fantastic musicians like Brother Wilson on guitar, John Tucker and Jonathan Curry on keyboards. Marvin Parker on bass and Carlton Campbell on drums plus the collaborations of Johnny Rawls, Mary Ellen Haden, Richard Rodolph and Kenny Neal who give bright colors and an extra dose of quality to the recoding, as well as his father Joe Beard on guitar too.
