If you talk about fine elegant piano players, you should always mention one of the most outstanding ‘rhythm and blues’ ones, Mr. Charles Brown. His influence is deeply acknowledged by many greatest artists of that time. Nat King Cole or Ray Charles mentioned him as their first and most important instrumental and vocal reference. In this “Cool Blues Singer” Charles is backed by his usual musicians trio of that time in some tunes, but he is mostly backed by his favourite band, “The Johny Moore’s Three Blazers”. Twenty four songs divided in two blocks, “The Hit-Maker” and “Ballads, Blues And Boogies”. A real delicious record, with different atmospheres, sometimes sophisticated ones and sometimes dark and full of smoke, such as were Los Angeles forties clubs.
