Besides his well-known facet as a producer, Mike Vernon also devotes himself to sing and perform. Usually most of his bands included British musicians but, thanks to the amazing quality of our Spanish blues musicians, Mike has decided to form a new band called Cat Squirrel that includes such renowned national musicians like Mingo Balaguer on harmonica, Kid Carlos on guitar, Oriol Fontanals on double bass, Pascual Monge on drums and, of course, Mike on vocals, which are the musicians you will find in this magnificent album.

With names like these ones, the result can’t be other than a splendid blues album that gathers fourteen songs, most of them composed by Mike Vernon and Kid Carlos. All songs communicate and immerse us into the real blues essence without losing an inch of the most actual sound, becoming a good example of the band knowledge, quality and professionalism, something that certainly deserves the attention of every blues lover.

The album has been recorded at the Sputnik studios in Sevilla supervised by Kid Carlos and has been published by Dixiefrog French label. Cat Squirrel is certainly at the same level of any actual American band, because the group sounds totally teamed, with a rhythm section driving the songs like a well-oiled machine where the solo musicians always shine at a very high level along an impressive recording from its beginning to the end.

Fourteen amazing songs to enjoy again and again. Let’s hope that, thanks to this recording Cat Squirrel will get the recognition they deserve, not only at a national level but also in the international market. GREAT.
