Since her first professional show when she was only fifteen, guitar player, singer and songwriter Carolyn Wonderland has not stopped to play and bring her blues and music to every place where she has been booked and recognized for her explosive performing. Despite she has recorded ten albums under her own name Carolyn is known worldwide as, in 2018, she became lead guitar player in John Mayall’s band.

Alligator Records now publishes this excellent album where Carolyn Wonderland brings us all her incredible strength, fiery technique and soulful feeling both on guitar and vocals, that makes her to be often compared to Texas guitarists like Stevie Ray Vaughan or singer Janis Joplin, although her influences go further up and can also be found in the music of Albert Collins, Jerry Lightfoot, Joe “Guitar” Hughes, Little “Screamin” Kenny or soul singer Lavelle White. Besides her knowledge of fingerpicking style, she is also an outstanding multi-instrumentalist, playing trumpet, accordion, lap steel, piano and mandolin.

Ten songs give shape to this robust energetic album where she combines own compositions with versions coming from John Mayall or Bob Dylan. In all song she shows her incendiary guitar playing and her luxurious vocal range. Together with Bobby Perkins on bass and Kevin Lance on drums you will find guests like Dave Alvin, Red Young, Marcia Ball, Cindy Cashdollar, Shelley King, Jan Flemming and Jimmie Dale Gilmore.
