Former trumpet player and musical arranger of BB King’s orchestra, Calvin Jones bring us a new delivery with previously unissued material, recorded together with his big band and some of his factory special guest singers such as Norma Zenteno, Lupita, Oscar Larrañaga and Cecilia Rockstadt On a short time Calvin has recorded for his label a good bunch of new records, all them done under a personal perspective, combining different musical styles, from blues to jazz, latin music, funky, soul and r&b An album with a good final production, excellent horn and string arrangements and a selection of Owens’ own songs together some Hamilton Loomis, Mel Torme or Trudy Lynn own compositions As on the previously reviewed cd, you will find lyrics in Spanish which seems to be the new way Calvin has found to approach his music to Spanish latin audiences It is an ambitious original personal and… why not really attractive work
