For more than twenty years German group BB & The Blues Shacks have been recognized as one of the best European bands which play both Chicago and West Coast blues Coming back from a successful tour in United States where they shared the stage with Buddy Guy or Taj Mahal, they have started a new project to introduce singer Bonita Niessen Born in South Africa, Bonita grew up listening to Ann Peebles, Aretha Franklyn, Ruth Brown or Barbara Lynm she deeply admired and tried to assimilate their singing qualities Her vocal style is sweet, but at the same time, powerful and full of swing Bonita performs a repertoire of mainly soul, blues or ballads, with great feeling, full of an overwhelming passion and a deep intensity which makes her different from other singers The band supports her with a well built musical speech they put at the service of her vocal qualities to round up a quite interesting final result The Blues Shacks are Michael Arlt harmonica and vocals, Andreas Arlt guitar, Fabian Fritz piano and organ, Henning Hauerken bass and upright bass and Andre Werkmeister drums This is a more than recommendable album to enjoy with the fifteen great songs included
