Bobby Harden defines himself as a real soul man This is why his first album was entitled Soul Purpose Bobby had to wait 16 years until he was able to publish this second full-length album but here it comes For those who are not familiar with him, only mention he has travelled all over the world as one of the most charismatic leaders of the original Blues Brothers Band, besides working with Steve Cropper in other different projects Steve taught him most of his knowledge about Stax sound and soul music in general, which helped Bobby to become a real expert Also Blues Brother Band keyboard player Leon Pendarvis played a crucial essential role in the album creative process The result is a magnificent recording with the most classic soul displayed on a very actual lively air and a variety of colourful nuances The nine album songs show the influences that have given shape to the style and voice of this absolutely gifted singer, influences that come from gospel artists like James Cleveland or Andre Crouch to soul singers like Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett and bluesmen such as Johnny Adams or BB King, although Bobby Harden always says his greatest influence has been James Brown This is an amazing album that has not a single bad note on it, that certainly deserves a good place in any soul music collection
