If there is a duo in Canada recognized for its huge versatility and originality, it is Blue Moon Marquee, which includes A.W. Cardinal on vocals and guitar and Jasmine Colette on double bass and vocals. Over the years they have developed a very personal style that gathers a variety of musical genres like blues, gypsy jazz, swing, Native American music, ragtime and even charleston or cabaret.

This last recording has been produced by Duke Robillard who has also added his guitar. It also features other guest musician such as Darcy Phillips on piano and Hammond, Jerry Cook on tenor and baritone sax, Bonnie Northgraves on trumpet, Paul Pigat on guitar, Matt Pease on drums and Señor Erik on tambourine. The result is a varied joyful album, performed with a committed attitude, that shows the different musical facets and brushstrokes of the varied chromatic sounds they play, where the duo has included eleven original compositions plus two versions of the songs “Another Night To Cry” and “Long Black Train”, both coming from legendary bluesman Lonnie Johnson.

With a unique and, at the same time, very contemporary display, Blue Moon Marquee definitely confirm themselves as one of the most remarkable and interesting musicians of Canadian actual music scene.
