It is always a pleasure to welcome a new blues album from a national band. This time is Madrid coming group BlackCat Haulers which, after an intense rotation in city clubs and venues, have decided to release an album that serves as the band presentation all over Spain.

Twelve songs that combine versions of blues classic songs like “I’m a King Bee” coming from Slim Harpo they change to ‘I’m a Queen Bee’, “Evil” by Willie Dixon or “How Long Blues” by Mable Hillery, with their own songs, some of them sung in Spanish, where the group communicates all the feeling they experience when they go on stage to perform the music they most like, that is real and genuine Chicago blues.

Leading the band you will find Sugar Merci, a singer with a wild intense but, at the same time, full of fine nuances voice, who knows how to display all the energy and feeling needed to sing the blues. The band also includes Ulises “Sumlin” Delgado on acoustic, electric guitars and piano, Manu Tapia and Pablo Navajo on electric guitar, Luismi Méndez on harmonica, Felo Aracil on bass and Laura García on drums.

Also mention album has an interesting booklet with the song lyrics and a careful design and presentation. In short words, a good dose of blues performed by a group of musicians who show they always have fun and enjoy a great time on stage, besides giving the best of themselves, something that should be really appreciated by listeners.
