Two great musicians, two great singers and two great stage monsters separated by a generation, come now together to give us an excellent proof of their natural talent, on an album that goes beyond Southern soul tradition, Memphis and Detroit sounds They have also had the valuable collaboration of Duke Robillard, who brought his own band and some members of the old Roomful of Blues horn section Otis Clay is one of the most representative and outstanding voices of the actual southern soul As it could be otherwise, he started in music singing gospel in Mississippi and, later on, he travelled to Chicago where he began to sing rhythm and blues and other secular music On the other hand, Billy Price began his career during the seventies as guitar player in Roy Buchanan’s band At the end of that decade he also began to sing and formed his own group, Billy Price & The Keystone Rhythm Band Curiously one of the songs he included in his first album was Is It Over, a song coming from Otis Clay Three years later Billy invited Otis to sing with his band It was then when they started to think in recording some day together, a project that finally has become a reality Backed by exceptional musicians, this is the superb result these two huge artists have done for their glory and pleasure
