Great album by Big Pete, one of the masters of amplified harmonica, who has done a superb job for Delta Groove, paying homage to his admired Lester Butler, not only in the way he blows harmonica, but also in his singing, and even in the songs he has chosen for the album. Thirteen tunes, with compositions ranging from “Driftin'”, by ill-fated Lester Butler, to songs coming from Jimmy Rogers, Albert King, Otis ‘Smokey’ Smothers, Jody Williams, Howlin’ Wolf, Little Walter, William Clark or Willie Dixon. In addition to Big Pete’s harmonica and voice, you will also find Alex Schultz guitars, Wille J. Campbell bass and Jimi Bott drums. Other outstanding guest musicians are Johnny Dyer, Al Blake, Paul Oscher, Kim Wilson, Kirk Fletcher, John Marx, Rob Rio, Kid Ramos, Shawn Pittman, Rusty Zinn, Mojo Mark and Malcolm Lukens. As you can see the roster of involved musicians is really amazing with an incredible final result. It is a monumental superb record that many times reminds us the blues performed by The Red Devils. These were great magical sessions, where the spirit of the most genuine Chicago blues flies on the infinite sky, surviving forever.
