Big Joe Shelton is a singer and harmonica player born in Black Prairie, a small town in the northeastern corner of Mississippi As you may imagine, Joe Shelton used to listen to lots of blues songs on the radio, which reflected the background and culture of the place he was growing up Since he was a little child, Big Joe often went to picnics, barbecues or minstrel shows that happened or came to his city He also listened to street blues musicians who wanderd along the streets playing for some tips Big Joe always spent a lot of time standing in front of them listening attentively to the blues they played Now here comes his third album recorded for the independent company Alt 45 Eleven original songs, where he is backed by his own band, The Black Prairie Blues Ambassadors, with Ben Ferrell on guitar, Ed Swan on bass and Bob Damm on percussion The cd also includes some guest musicians who contribute to give consistency and energy to the quartet, with excellent saxophone, keyboards and pedal steel performances In short words, this is an interesting album with some good outstanding moments
