Musician of great professionalism with a wide vocal tone, Big Joe has a special sensibility to sing the blues, although in his songs one can find other elements of Afroamerican music, such as jazz, swing, funk and soul. Fitz grew up in New York and had the opportunity to see live in Greenwich Village clubs musicians like Muddy Waters, B.B. King and Paul Butterfield among others, which made his passion for the blues grow up, until he decided to devote himself to play this kind of music. Highlights moments were his personal meetings with Howlin’ Wolf during the Newport Folk Festival in 1966 and Lightnin’ Hopkins in the first Ann Arbor Blues Festival in 1969. In this work Joe Fitz shows his flaming temperament, along fourteen fantastic well articulated tracks, where groove and swing prevail over anything else with a cool straight style, helped with some efficient well teamed backing musicians.
