Everyone who listens to these two albums without looking at their covers, would think he is savoring the most genuine Delta blues performed by those pioneers like Big Joe Williams, Bukka White or Son House. But the true is they come from a young Danish singer and guitar player called Big Creek Slim who has managed to take up all the musical language, feeling and spirit of those old songs. He now presents these two albums with the most genuine and real taste of Mississippi Blues. The first one “Migration Blues” includes fourteen wonderful original blues, all inspired by some of his heroes like Charley Patton, Robert Johnson or Tommy Johnson. The way he sings, plays and performs Resonator guitar are totally rewarding. Although his songs are based on the originals of those great masters, Big Creek Slim writes and develops his own compositions, where he tells stories about the sad moments and misfortunes that have made him feel like a true 21st century bluesman. The second cd “Twenty-Twenty Blues” follows the same spirit and musical pattern than the previous one. Delta blues performed with very good taste and an undeniable feeling, honesty and intensity like few young musicians are able to communicate nowadays. Again the spirit of the original performers is present in the whole album. Thirteen own songs, this time focused on the problems pandemic has caused, as well as the political and discrimination situation that is present in many countries these days. Now that is really hard to find some musicians who develop the original real down home blues sounds, it is a pleasure and a satisfaction to discover a musician like Big Creek Slim and these two valuable jewels that should not be overlooked by blues lovers.
