From South Louisiana, Big Al & the Heavyweights come back with their infectious easy-going blues to make us dance and enjoy all night long. The band has taken in the cultural richness, musical diversity and varied rhythms of the place where they come from, to give us a recording filled with many colors and textures.
After the tragic loss of singer and piano player Wayne Lohr, the group has included some new members and now they are Marcel Anton on guitar and vocals, Dale Robertson on harmonica and vocals, Dennis Cedeno on bass and vocals and Big Al Lauro on drums, who also leads the band since its start back in 1993. Now the instrumentation is the same that was in the beginning and the new musicians who have joined it provide a new energy to their style, which comfortably moves in blues, greasy funk, dance bayou soul and catching Zydeco music rhythm, all sprinkled with a touch of Americana roots music, in an explosive combination that makes it become a highly recommended album for those of you who are willing to have a good time.
Ten songs round up a recording where the good atmosphere, the energy, the musical content, delivery and fun will immediately connect with many listeners, confirming that, despite the many years they have been active, Big Al & The Heavyweights have not lost a single ounce of enthusiasm and professionalism as instrumentalists, besides showing they are in top shape and eager to give the best of themselves to, once again, captivate the audience with a more than interesting recording.
