Singer and guitar player Bernard Sellam has been for years the absolute leader of French group Awek, one of the best bands in France that has stood out for their orthodox Texas blues sound and their good work performing jump blues and West Coast rhythm & blues. Now Bernard has decided to start a new personal project, forming a new group called The Boyz From The Hood, including brilliant instrumentalists who follow and develop jump blues, swing and the most attractive old time rock and roll, in the path started years ago by Awek.

The album gathers fifteen songs, half of them Bernard Sellam’s own compositions and the rest versions coming from such popular bluesmen like Roy Milton, ZZ Hill, Gatemouth Brown or T-Bone Walker among others.

A repertoire tailored to the tastes and qualities of Bernard Sellam’s guitar and voice who, in his turn, is backed by Eric Church Leglise on bass and vocals, Julien Bigey on drums, Franck Mottin on alto and tenor sax, Manu Lochin on tenor and baritone sax and David Cayrou on baritone sax. Bernard has also counted with the special collaboration of Anita Fabiani on piano, Remi Vidal on trombone and Drew Davies on sax in the song “On Too Much Pride”.

In short words, we are facing a more then recommended album, with a clever performance, developed with care and a high-quality sound too, that should not be overlooked by any blues lover.
