With this double album, Thomas Ruf, German label Ruf Records owner, wants to pay homage to the Allison family (Luther Allison and his son Bernard Allison), he is really fond of. Sadly, Luther Allison passed away quite a long time ago, but fortunately Bernard is active now.

Bernard is an amazing guitar player and singer with a wide range of musical possibilities which can be found in this double compilation CD that gathers twenty songs composed by his father that were included in different Bernard’s previous albums, performed with the personality he always gives to the songs, that range from the most classic and orthodox blues to a very electrifying power blues or even sentimental ballads, always developed on a totally contemporary style. In all them Bernard shows his quality as a singer and his outstanding technique as a guitar player.

The cuts cover thirty years, from his father’s song “Hang On” that was recorded by Bernard in his twenties when he was in Paris in the summer of 1992, until two Luther’s tracks coming from his last studio album recorded in 2022.

It has been a Ruf Records good choice to release this double CD by an artist who today has become one of the most versatile musicians of actual blues scene which, together with Thomas Ruf, keep alive the legacy of that great artist who was Luther Allison, his son Bernard has deeply admired, learning all his musical wisdom during his early years in Chicago, backing Luther in his tours all over Europe, leading his band The Luther Allison Band and now honoring him with albums like this one.
