Gulf Records proudly presents the new recording of one of the best-established blues bands in St. Petersburg, Florida. It is the Backtrack Blues Band and the album name is “A Day By The Bay”. Recorded live at Tampa Blues Festival in April 10, 2022, the lineup includes Sonny Charles on vocals and harmonica, Kid Royal on lead guitar, Little Johnny Walter on rhythm guitar, Joe Bensomo on drums and Stick Davis on bass. During their show at the festival, they were joined on stage by Wayne Sharp on B-3, as well as a vocal group named Backtrack Angels.

Besides the influences they treasure from people like Little Walter, Albert King, Paul Butterfield or Sonny Boy Williamson among others, they have also shared stage with Robert Cray, Johnny Winter, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Greg Allman, Koko Taylor or John Lee Hooker.

The charm of this live recording is it allows listeners to appreciate and savor the quality of a band with years of experience in the music business, as it captures all the energy, feeling and good work they have got during the forty years they have spent on the road. Their energetic style when they perform Chicago blues with influences of Texas sound make them be the favorite of many regular fans who usually look for them on the many blues festivals in USA.

Nine songs, six of them written by the band leader and founder, harmonica player and singer Sonny Charles, two other songs coming from guitar player Kid Royal and one more by Jimmy Reed, give shape and strength to the new album of this expert band, which have become reference and leader of Florida blues scene, confirming their impressive quality with this new recording many fans were really looking forward.
