The magic and charm of these two cds becomes a delicious, cool, wrapping and unique experience To listen to a vaudeville blues legend as was great singer Sippie Wallace, backed by the best contemporary boogie-woogie piano player, as Axel Zwingenberger is, cannot be anything but unforgettable, memorable and wonderful These recordings were done in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1983 and in Munich, Germany in 1984 The result was gratifying and fascinating Thirty-seven songs of pure exclusive blues, that evoke good memories of those wonderful times when Sippie was plenty of life and in the mood to delight the audience with her funny ironical and sometimes feminist lyrics (Woman Be Wise) sung with her expressive well-pitched voice, while she played piano too or sometimes was backed by lengendary pianio players Clarence Williams, like Little Brother Montgomery or Roosevelt Sykes among others But although and due to her advanced age, Sippie Wallace’s voice is not one hundred percent of the vocal potential she used to have, this does not mean the two albums do not bring us the charm of twenties, thirties and forties classic blues, performed with lively passion, that comes from the deepest part of both musicians’ heart and soul
