Awek is one of the most recognized French bands at European and international level, thanks to their undeniable quality and the way they perfectly understand the true language of blues This last work has been recorded between Austin in Texas and Toulouse and Angers in France The recording includes fourteen songs that combine own compositions with versions of some of the historical bluesmen who have most influenced them like Muddy Waters they play homage with an impressive version of Long Distance Call they play with a terrific feeling and giving the best of themselves, or Jimmy McCracklin with the song Think, T-Bone Walker with the song The Hustle Is On, not to mention the delightful version of Leiber and Stoller’s song Hound Dog, where the band harmonica player Stéphane Bertolino gives us a superb playing in the path of Kim Wilson Awek have gpt the real Texas and Chicago blues sound, they display with a complete reliability And if the band quality was not enough, they have also included some excellent guest musicians like Julien Brunetaud, Damien Daigneau and recently disappeared Fred Kaplan on piano, Drew Davies and Jean Marc Labbé on sax and Dereck O’Brien on guitar
