When a musician reaches a quality level and recognition that enables him to perform the music he likes most, just for the pleasure of playing and sharing it with the audience, this becomes a nice present to most listeners. This is the case of guitar player Arlen Roth known as “master of the Telecaster” and bass player Jerry Jemmott known as “The Groovemaster”, two good friends who have joined forces to release this excellent album and, in this way, celebrate together their fifty years of career.

Arlen has recorded and performed with such great names like Paul Butterfield, Simon & Garfunkel, John Prine, Pete Seeger, The Bee Gees or James Taylor among many others, besides creating more than 1,000 online guitar lessons, written several books about guitar, publishing a collection of 180 videos featuring 150 artists, teaching guitar to Ralph Macchio for the film “Crossroads”, and received a good number of awards. On the other hand, Jerry Jemmott has received two Grammys, besides recording and performing with Aretha Franklin, B.B. King or King Curtis. Despite suffering a brain injury when he was a child, he now uses music as a way of prevention and dissemination to help to solve these terrible diseases.

Both musicians have an outstanding quality that becomes evident along this album that includes thirteen songs, most of them black music great hits. Joe Louis Walter, Mukamuri and Arlen himself are on vocals in some songs, backed by some high-level musicians such as Tom Gage on rhythm guitar, Alex Salzman on keyboards, Bruce Katz on piano and organ, Chris Parker on drums, the horn section The Uptown Horns and, of course, Arlen Roth on guitar and Jerry Jemmott on bass. All together develop an elegant, sophisticated and exquisite recording to be calmy savored.
