From Santiago de Compostela in Galicia comes this four musicians band with Benjamin Vazquez on guitar, Ramon Figueira on harmonica and Alvaro Trillo on percussion, an acoustic trio who put all their skills to the service of singer Andhrea Verdú, who leads them through the winding roads of the most old traditional blues In this debut album they present a selection of ten songs coming from such legendary musicians like Leadbelly, Lil’ Green, Son House, Roosevelt Sykes, Memphis Minnie, Billy Boy Arnold or even they include a Tom Waits’ song version With this repertoire that, basically, is the same they do in their live performances, Andhrea & The Black Cats go into pre-war blues ways, aiming to give knowledge and teach the ‘blues gospel’ to the audiences who follow them This is a good revival work and, at the same time, a very educational one for the new generations, a perfect repertoire for new blues lovers who are not very familiar with blues roots It is praiseworthy that a young group of musicians like Andhrea & The Black Cats devote themselves to restore the spirit of those old bluesmen, always with good taste, graceful dignity and great conviction
